Føler meg alltid litt som en voyeur som koser seg med fattigdomsporno når jeg leser denne typen autofiksjon (eller selvbiografier som av en eller annen grunn har kledd seg ut som romaner), men er det én grunn til å lese den, er det for å få et innblikk i hvor lett det er å falle mellom nesten alle sikkerhetsnett hvis en ikke har kapasitet og/eller vilje til å spille på lag med offentlige institusjoner.

She laughs and keeps walking, before buying a juice from, yes, another copy of herself. She pops into a hair salon, where everyone looks just like her. Next, she’s in a van, bopping along to the music, surrounded by a crowd of people, but they’re all her. “Playlists made just for you,” the narrator concludes. It illustrates in stark relief the deep individualism championed by this system.

Dette er en sånn bok jeg skulle ønske at alle ville lese! For å forstå hvordan vi har klart å lage oss et samfunn der "verdi" er noe som bestemmes i et marked og måles i kroner, og at det som ikke selges eller kjøpes dermed har null verdi. Til tross for at det er selve grunnlaget for all menneskelig (også økonomisk) aktivitet. For å gjennomskue mekanismene som gjør oss stadig mer ulykkelige, til tross for at vi er blant verdens rikeste. Og forhåpentligvis for å gjøre noe med det.

Har läst klart den ursprungliga Övärlden-trilogin i Modernistas nyutgivna svenska utgåva. Jag har tyckt om alla böckerna. De har i stor grad varit lågmälda med en handling som skrider långsamt fram, i böcker som inte är jättetjocka och utan att bli tråkiga. Har fått reda på att det finns några böcker till som är skrivna i nyare tid som jag tänkte jag skulle leta reda på.
