Even in the Advent and Christmas offices, where you might expect the tone to be one of cheer and festive positivity, there are prayers quite openly calling for the destruction of the godless and the raising up of the poor. It was, indeed, quite extraordinary that the common people of Allstedt and its environs were every week standing up in church and singing songs about the overthrow of their oppressors.
