En histore om anglo-USAs gradvise, men fortsatt ikke 100% fullførte kolonisering av nordre New Mexico, der nuevoméxicanos, etterkommere av den spanske kolonistaten, delvis har holdt på sitt språk og sitt levevis og nektet å la seg assimilere av anglostaten og - kapitalen.
