I was a bit perplexed when Genghis died about halfway through, as I thought this was his biography. It turned out to be a good overview of the entire period of the Mongol Empire instead. It got a bit tiresome the way he constantly felt the need to emphasize how much more humane the Mongols were than their European contemporaries, though. Not that I doubt that's true, and I understand that this is supposed to be revisionist, but still...
