I’m seldom this assertive, but this book is profoundly dumb. There are some tiny slivers of sense floating around, but they’re overshadowed completely by Lanier’s bro-y, imprecise prose. The way he conflates open-source and piracy is especially infuriating. Furthermore, he just… says things? Proprietary software is inherently better than open-source because… checks notes Linus Torvalds didn’t invent the iPhone?
