Douglas Robertson covers the period before and after the original work of his father. He explores the emotional trauma of he and his siblings being torn from their rural farm to complete their childhood as the untrained crew of a willfully under-equipped ocean-going yacht. Only the foresight of some friends provided the means to cope with the epic survival drama that unfolded.

My Review

An excellent book that provides greater detail and more expansive emotional response of the author and his siblings over their father, Douglas Robertson's near tragic idea of setting sail on a round the world trip with his entire family in a small, seriously ill-equipped yacht and with almost no financial resources. How this negligent approach crashed down around them when they were thrown into an epic sea survival drama is an emotional roller-coaster. A great read.
