Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but has recently found her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for? Wherever she goes, people only see her through the lens of Superman’s fame.

Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission: her world has been destroyed and the bad guys responsible are still out there. She wants revenge and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost.

Now, a Kryptonian, a dog and an angry heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core!

Brought to you by Eisner Award-winning writer Tom King (Batman/Catwoman, Mister Miracle and Rorschach) and Eisner nominee artist Bilquis Evely (Sandman Universe: The Dreaming) this maxiseries promises to be a character-defining masterpiece the likes of which has never been seen before for DC’s Maiden of Might.

Too good

Content warning Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (with ending spoilers)

Last night as I was lying in bed I was thinking "wait, wasn't there some book I was reading that I wanted to continue?" and that thought made me happy but then I became sad because I remembered that I already had finished it that morning. Reading this was a mistake because it was so much better than all the, I dunno, eighteen or nineteen other books I'm currently reading and now I almost don't wanna go back to them.

Yes, it is very derivative of True Grit so if you've ever wanted to read a version of True Grit that's actually good, well, here you are.

Except for the copaganda ending which I didn't like (I oppose prisons, and the Phantom Zone is a nightmarish version of that), this was a fantastic read.

You really get to feel that you're Supergirl's friend on this long odyssey through space. The pacing and scope is masterful. This beats any other novel in the areas this is good at.

beautiful and far from straightfoward

Artwork had me dreaming of a different decade, reminding me of the best that the (old old old) Valérian, Thorgal, and Métal Hurlant could deliver. And the narrative frame was immediately compelling.

Supergirl remains a favourite for exactly the themes described in this book: an exploration of how you keep living in unimaginable pain and grief, when your world has ended and keeps ending every single day.

Capa, espadas y un sol rojo

Una introducción muy adecuada para alguien neófito como yo, que no he leído nada de Supergirl, y encima en un contexto de fantasía y espadas.
