It’s a romance!

It’s not bad but it’s Very Hetero and rather overwritten. I liked the setting, but the plot is essentially 100% deus ex machina.

I’m also always a bit wary of any story dealing with concepts like duty and fate by firmly mega-affirming the primacy of Freedom.
