S.T., a domesticated crow, is a bird of simple pleasures. He spends his days hanging out with this owner, Big Jim; trading insults with Seattle's wild crows (i.e. "those idiots"); and enjoying the finest food humankind has to offer: Cheetos®.

Then Big Jim's eyeballs fall out of his head, and S.T. starts to think something's not quite right. His tried-and-true remedies, suck as beak-delivered beer and an inventive cocktail of stolen pharmaceuticals, fail to cure Big Jim's debilitating malady. Suddenly, S.T. is left with no choice but to abandon his old life and venture out into the wild and frightening world of Seattle with Big Jim's loyal but dim-witted dog, Dennis. To his shock and horror, he finds Big Jim's neighbors literally devouring one another. Local wildlife is abuzz with rumors of Seattle's dangerous new predators.

One part Homeward Bound, one part The Lord of the Rings, and one part Ted. I don't know if the thing about phones is all that necessary - I'm reminded of Daniel Lavery's summarization of Black Mirror as "what if phones, but too much?" - but the animal kingdom was well-drawn and surprisingly deep. I laughed a lot and was genuinely taken aback by an ending I didn't see coming. A nice surprise.
